The Bigotry of the Left

For the last 8 years we've heard about Conservatives are racist, terrorists, Nazis, fascists, warmongers, and a variety of other names.  In recent weeks the bigotry of the Left has been put on display.

We've seen it in the past with references by media commentators like Ed Shultz and Bill Maher towards Conservative women like Ann Coulter and Sarah Palin.  Tea Partiers were called racists because of the actions of a few but did anyone call Occupy Wall Street people anti-semitic when there were signs at their protests about a world conspiracy of Jews?  Oh no.

In recent weeks, the bigotry of the left has been on display again as their darling, Hillary Clinton is under fire.  First, it was Chris Matthews - who has spent years saying that anyone who does not agree with Barack Obama is a racist.  When Donald Trump announced he would not attend the last debate before the Iowa Caucuses, Matthews blurted out - who is going to watch "two Cuban guys."  To his credit he apologized the next day but this fits in a pattern where Matthews has questioned whether Cruz and Rubio are legitimately Hispanic, suggesting Americans of Cuban descent are somehow different.

Then there are is Madeleine Albright and, of all people, Gloria Steinem.

Prior to the New Hampshire Primary, Madeleine Albright said young women deserve a special place in hell if they don't support Hillary Clinton.  Really?!  Amazingly the media either did not report it or tried to offer excuses for what Albright said.  I wonder if Ms. Albright also said that about people who did not support Sarah Palin when she was the Vice Presidential candidate or about Republican women who did not support Carly Fiorina in this year's primary?  Or is that special place in hell only for women who don't support rich elite Democrat female candidates?

Then there is Gloria Steinem, the Mother of Feminism so to speak.  Gloria Steinem saying on Bill Maher's show that the reason young women support Bernie Sanders is because that is where the young boys are.

Camille Paglia in an article for Salon said it wonderfully: "Last week, when she told TV host Bill Maher that young women supporting the Sanders campaign are just in it to meet boys, Steinem managed not only to insult the intelligence and idealism of the young but to vaporize every lesbian Sanders fan into a spectral non-person... Never before has the general public... more clearly seen the arrogance and amoral manipulativeness of the power elite who hijacked and stunted second-wave feminism."

Couldn't have said it better than that.
