The Real Authoritarians have a (D) after their names - Part 1

The word projection has multiple definitions.  Google says one of the definitions is "...the presentation or promotion of someone or something in a particular way."  Kids have a better way of saying it when they tease each other with - "I know you are but what am I?" The Democrats are the Kings and Queens of political projection.  The best example of how the Democrat Party uses projection to deflect attention away from themselves is the latest charge that President Trump and MAGA supporters are authoritarians - a charge that is breathtaking for its audacity.  What makes it particularly scary is how the vast majority of the media parrots what the Democrats say verbatim. According to Merriam-Webster, Authoritarianism is a system of government or management characterized by absolute obedience to authority, concentrated power in a leader or elite, and the suppression of democratic processes, civil liberties, and political dissent. Let's test that definition by look...

What do Anti-ICE Protesters really stand for?

Someone really needs to ask the media this question.  What do the anti-ICE protesters stand for?  The media covers these protesters and gives airtime to their complaints but no one defines what are the goals or underlying principles these individuals believe.   Let's look at some of the people ICE has arrested.   Hernan Cortes-Valencia is an illegal alien arrested by ICE.  He was convicted of sexual assault against a child, sexual assault-carnal abuse, and four DUIs.  Mr. Cortes-Valencia was ordered removed on December 1, 2016, so he had his due process. Sriudorn Phaivan was convicted of strongarm sodomy of a boy and a girl, nine counts of larceny, four counts of fraud, vehicle theft, two counts of drug possession, possession and receiving of stolen property, burglary and check forgery, and that's just a summary.  He has a final removal order from March 8, 2018. Gabriel Figueroa Gama was removed from the US in 2002 and came back.  After ...

Democrats and Affordability Part 2

Previously we talked about how Democrats drive up costs, but what do they do to make things affordable?  Simple, they give away your tax dollars. Obamacare is a classic example.  Democrats rammed through a boondoggle of a program that has lived up to none of its promises, a key one of which was to reduce the cost of health insurance.  As insurance costs rose and rose, Democrats during the Biden Administration passed a law "temporarily" removing any cap on income levels for subsidies.  This meant that people making as much as $600,000 or more could get federal tax dollars to help pay for their Health Insurance purchased through the marketplace.* The temporary law ended this past December.  Democrats are seeking to extend the removal of the cap on subsidies for 10 more years at a cost to taxpayers of billions of dollars over that time.   That doesn't make health insurance more affordable, it just covers up the rising costs with taxpayer dollars....

Democrats and Affordability Part 1

Democrats are the masters of "projection."  In the language of politics, projection means you take your own characteristic and "project" it onto your opponent.  Remember the kid's game of saying "I know you are, but what am I? when someone criticizes them.  There are so many examples of Democrats doing this but today we'll talk about Democrats and affordability. What are Democrats to do to win back the House and possibly the Senate in 2026?  Simple, apply the tactic of "projection" and blame Republicans and Trump for higher prices and claim they, the Democrats, are the party of "affordability." It's comical because when we evaluate which party made the cost of living less affordable on a national scale, it's the Democrats.  During the years of the Biden Administration, which we'll define as January 2021 to December 2024, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that prices for all items were 15.77% higher, or roughly 5% yea...

What the Republicans should do to address the problem

In the previous post, I talked about how I think the Republicans are in trouble going into the 2026 elections.  Now let's talk about what I think they should do about it. Start by recognizing there is a problem.  I've heard Republican officials and some pundits say "well these were Blue states so its not surprising Democrats won."  I'm sorry - a Democrat AG candidate won after it was revealed he wished death on a legislator and the legislator's two kids.  I don't care what color is assigned to the State of Virginia - Republican Red or Democrat Blue - that shouldn't happen unless Republicans have a problem. After we admit we have a problem, look at why Democrats won.  In the New York Mayor's race, and the Governor races in New Jersey and Virginia, the winning candidates promised to fight President Trump.  We need to give people a reason to ask - why would you oppose what Trump is doing?  In NY and NJ, candidates promised to fix higher costs facing...

Republicans are in big trouble.

The Republicans are in big trouble in 2026.   The Election night just passed is a harbinger of the problems Republicans face.  Republicans got spanked royally.  The epitome of that was a Democrat candidate Attorney General who threatened death to not just a state legislator but also that legislators children won election against a Republican incumbent in Virginia. In New Jersey, electric bills are skyrocketing due to the policies of the outgoing Democrat Governor.  The Democrat candidate's solution - declare a state of emergency on day 1 in office and then.... who knows.  That was all her advertisements offered.  The Republican candidate had a specific list of solutions he proposed.  Result - Democrat wins by a significant margin In California, Proposition 50 was offered by Governor Newsom to redistrict the state so more seats would be Democrat.  When that was first announced, Prop 50 was way behind in the polls.  Voters had previously a...

With Charlie Kirk's murder, it's time to speak the truth about political violence

Charlie Kirk believed in free speech and debate.  His process was peaceful.  Charlie Kirk went to colleges and other locations to listen to the views of others and offer his responses.   He would answer any question and talk to anyone.  Charlie Kirk was murdered because he offered ideas others did not want anyone to hear.  Progressives have tried for years to stop him going to College campuses.  Local branches of Mr. Kirk's Turning Point USA have had their tables and materials attacked and vandalized.   And now Charlie Kirk is assassinated - the culmination of all the efforts by progressives to deny him free speech, to prevent others from hearing what he has to say. I heard a clip of comments by Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) saying people can finger point, but look at the record.  So let's look at the record...* Know what didn't happen last night after Mr. Kirk's death was announced?  Conservatives did not take t...

Who pays Tariffs? The point people are missing.

From the moment President Trump announced "Liberation Day" and laid out a list of tariffs he planned to impose, we've heard from economists, politicians, the media and the Federal Reserve about the impact of the tariffs on consumers.  Clothing, food, technology, cars, and toys are some of the categories of products tariffs will effect.  But there is a key point they overlook in their complaints about tariffs. From the media, we see headlines like these: CNN - "'Sneakflation': How Trump's tariffs are gradually raising costs for American consumers." Forbes - "Tariffs may have a bigger impact on consumers than some experts think." The Hill - "The misery of auto tariffs is hitting families and factories." Then there was the Federal Reserve which held off changes in the interest rate citing the "uncertainty" caused by tariffs as their reason for doing so. Democrats' criticism has been a bit awkward because progressives su...

Recommendations for the Democrats

President Obama called on Democrats to "toughen up" and said the next few years are "...going to require a little bit less navel-gazing and a little less whining and being in fetal positions."  President Obama also said "...now is exactly the time that you get in there and do something."* Putting it more bluntly, Mark Cuban criticized the Democrats as having no message other than "Trump sucks!"**   Mark Cuban then puts his finger on the right answer saying "...it's about the people of the United States of America - and what's good for them." If Democrats really want to do what's good for the people of the United States of America, as Mark Cuban suggests, then they need to first recognize that Donald Trump is the President and Republicans control both the House and the Senate, and second they need to come up with ideas they can offer to help shape and contribute to the policies being adopted.  For example: Deportation - If De...

Deportations and Tariffs - odds and ends

1.  Deportations  A common refrain from the ACLU*, and their Democrat and media allies is to say the illegal alien "has no criminal record" when objecting the Trump Administration's efforts to deport that person.  The statement may be true, but the statement was also true about the following individuals: Jose Ibarra had no criminal record prior to being arrested for the murder of Laken Riley. Victor Martinez-Hernandez had no criminal record prior to being arrested for the murder of Rachel Morin Jing Ming-Long had no criminal record until he was arrested for sex trafficking Mark Anthony Scaffe had no criminal record until he was arrested for rape and indecent assault and battery all involving a child under 14 years of age. Why isn't the fact that these individuals aren't supposed to be in the United States enough of a reason to deport them?  Why do the ACLU, Democrats, and the Media want to wait until an illegal alien has a criminal record before that person can be...

Thoughts about Tariffs

President Trump has begun using tariffs as a tool to bring other countries to the negotiating table to remove barriers to trade erected by other countries and to encourage them to purchase more American products.  Trump did this in his typical dramatic fashion, giving rise to dramatic reactions.  Wall Street reacted with significant losses for a few days and remains unsettled, financial experts have questioned the approach, and Democrats have seized on this to criticize Trump for his actions. Before looking further at the whining and complaining, let's remember that President Trump paused the tariffs for all countries that offered to negotiate - basically everyone but China.  People are wailing about tariffs that may never go into effect if the negotiations with other countries are successful. As for the whiners and complainers, if I could play the violin, I'd pull one out and play a sad song and then you I have no sympathy.  You've profited while America has suffere...

What do Democrats stand for?

President Trump gave his State of the Union speech recently to massive approval ratings from the American people.  Meanwhile, the actions, reactions and response by the Democrats were widely criticized.  Democrat approval ratings in the polls are incredibly low and members of the party were calling for Senator Chuck Schumer to step down as Minority Leader. When we examine what the Democrats stand for or seem to stand for it becomes apparent why Americans prefer Trump.  Democrats support: -- Biological men competing in women's sports.  They disregard the impact to women who have lost scholarships, awards and trophies, or who have been physically injured.  They further disregard the feelings of women who are offended by seeing biological men in their locker rooms. -- Biological men being incarcerated in women's prisons, ignoring the fact that women in those prisons complain of being raped and impregnated by those "female" prisoners with male appendages. -- Ignorin...

Will the Democrats learn from this election?

A Republican official I know texted me that question after the Trump victory on Tuesday.  Then I saw an article with Bernie Sanders asking the same question.  Today I saw a clip of Marianne Williamson, who ran against President Biden in the Democrat primaries, making a similar point.  Each raising the same question perhaps but each suggesting the answer should be different. To me there were two lessons to be learned from this Election and I question whether the Democrat party and their members will learn either. The first lesson was that the American people don't want progressive ideas like open borders, economic policies that cause rampant inflation, Green New Deal rules that drive up energy costs and eliminate good paying blue collar jobs, paying tuition for kids who are now doctors or lawyers, or who take useless degrees like art history or English at expensive colleges.  The people don't want a weak foreign policy that results in multiple wars around the wo...

Republicans shouldn't get cocky

Is there anyone who doesn't think the Republicans will retake control of both the U.S. House and Senate this year?  Probably not - and that's the problem.    All the polls we see are generic.  They are asking questions about how people feel about the parties.  The pollsters are asking would a generic Republican defeat a generic Democrat.  Other polls are gauging people's feelings toward President Biden.  Every indication is the Republicans will win big in both Houses of Congress.  What could go wrong? Elections are not generic.  Incumbents are not easy to unseat.  Furthermore, elections involve Candidate A running against Candidate B in specific districts on specific issues.  Candidates and parties also need money to run campaigns. Republicans can be facing an uphill fight on some or all of these points. Take incumbency - in Georgia a recent poll showed Herschel Walker running only a couple of points ahead of Democrat incumbent Sena...

Inflation stays until Biden and the Democrats go

We won't put inflation behind us as long as Joe Biden is President and Democrats control one or both Houses of Congress.  There was going to be some level of inflation after the shutdowns of 2020, but the policies adopted by the Biden Administration and the spending bills passed by the Democrat Congress have elevated inflation to levels they have not been at in many years.  As long as Joe Biden is in the White House or Democrats control one House of Congress they will be able to prevent undoing the policies that have put us where we are. Starting on day one, the Biden Administration began adopting policies that fueled the growth of inflation.  Despite it being obvious for months that inflation was running hotter than expected the Biden Administration was in denial, saying inflation was transitory.   Supply chain issues were initially caused by other factors but the Biden Administration has talked about addressing this but none of their policies have been success...

What just happened? Messages from the 2021 Election

Tuesday's election produced dramatic results.  As political experts around the country try to explain what just happened, here's my point of view.  The lessons to be learned by Democrats are different than the lessons that should be taken away by Republicans.  The stage is set for political upheaval at the Federal level in 2022 but how big that will be will be influenced by which party derives the right messages from the election that just occurred.  But to start, if you want a real understanding of what just happened, evaluating the Governor's race in Virginia is important but that is only the tip of the iceberg - you have to look deeper into the races at every level and across the country.  If Democrats focus solely on the Virginia Gubernatorial election and buy into the media claims that Glenn Youngkin's win is indicative of white racism, influence of President Trump, or inability to get President Biden's agenda passed*, they'll be crushed in the upcoming ele...

In Joe Biden's America, You better not dare to disagree with the Establishment

Don't get vaccinated the the establishment is coming for you.  CNN Medical Contributor Dr. Leana Wen, also former Planned Parenthood President, said "It needs to be hard for people to remain unvaccinated."  By that she means, harassing people with forms and mandated testing multiple times a week.  She also endorsed "Vaccine Credentialing" - making Americans carry a proof of vaccination card.  Can't require people to get IDs to vote but Vaccine Credentialing IDs, that we can require.  And why?  Because it is a way for the establishment to penalize you for not following their dictates. It started in January, when many Democrats, Democrat supporters in the Media, and Never Trumper Republicans were saying that anyone who worked for or supported President Trump should be banned from jobs, shunned personally and professionally, and subjected to re-education.  They have quietly been putting that into effect. This week we saw stories saying Toyota is the lates...

Will History Repeat Itself Again?

I believe the saying is if we don't learn from history it will repeat itself.   I went to a movie over the weekend - "News of the World" starring Tom Hanks.*  The movie takes place in 1870, which was relatively early in the Reconstruction period following the Civil War, and the location of the events is the state of Texas. Early scenes show soldiers, Yankees or Blue Bellies as they were called, stopping Texans and demanding they produce a piece of paper - a signed loyalty oath.  The requirement of Loyalty Oaths was ostensibly done in the name of promoting unity - reuniting the country after a bitter war.  But it really was an effort by some in Washington to humiliate their opponents in the War - Southerners - while often promoting their own self-interest.** During the late 1940's and early 1950's we saw the hunt for Communists across the country.  History shows there were Communist spies in many governments around the world and also Communist sympathizers i...
