With Charlie Kirk's murder, it's time to speak the truth about political violence

Charlie Kirk believed in free speech and debate.  His process was peaceful.  Charlie Kirk went to colleges and other locations to listen to the views of others and offer his responses.   He would answer any question and talk to anyone.  Charlie Kirk was murdered because he offered ideas others did not want anyone to hear.  Progressives have tried for years to stop him going to College campuses.  Local branches of Mr. Kirk's Turning Point USA have had their tables and materials attacked and vandalized.  

And now Charlie Kirk is assassinated - the culmination of all the efforts by progressives to deny him free speech, to prevent others from hearing what he has to say.

I heard a clip of comments by Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) saying people can finger point, but look at the record.  So let's look at the record...*

Know what didn't happen last night after Mr. Kirk's death was announced?  Conservatives did not take to the streets to burn, vandalize, and destroy as occurred when something happened that progressives did not like.  Conservatives did not take over a section of a City and declare themselves a new independent entity, while terrorizing the local residents of that area.

Progressives cannot offer rational arguments for their positions.  Instead, people who disagree with them are Nazis, Fascists, and racists.**

Republican Congressman have town hall meetings and progressives hire people to go to the meetings not for the purpose of debate but to shout and yell so no one can hear what the Congressman can say.

During the 2024 Presidential Election, no Conservative tried to assassinate President Biden or Vice President Harris.  Twice individuals tried to kill President Trump.

When conservatives objected to the Biden Administration's immigration policies, they went to the polls and elected President Trump.  When progressives object to the Trump Administration's immigration policies (e.g. deportations) they try to impede the officers who are enforcing the law.  They curse and insult and threaten the officers.  When that doesn't work, they shoot at the officers and throw rocks at vehicles driven by the officers.  Elected Democrat officials escalate the rhetoric without condemning the threats or violence.

Overlooking abuse and violence by Democrats is not new.  During the Biden Administration, actions of progressives were routinely overlooked regardless of how vile, abusive or violent their actions, encouraging progressives to push the envelope further.  

Pro-life activists pray outside abortion clinics.  Pro-choice progressives vandalize and attack pro-life Pregnancy Resource Centers.  The progressive Biden Administration prosecuted peaceful pro-life individuals while overlooking the violent actions of pro-choice progressives.

When Israel responds to a horrific attack by Hamas terrorists, progressives express their views by calling for elimination of Israel.  When their "river to the sea" rhetoric is challenged, progressives don't offer arguments in favor of their position.  Instead they lie about the true meaning of their words and deflect by accusing Israel and the US of genocide.  Then they escalate by taking  over sections of college campuses, vandalize buildings, and harass, abuse, and physically assault Jewish students and their supporters.  

Colleges openly permitted these actions to occur, with security not removing demonstrators and ignoring complaints filed by Jewish students.  Children of prominent progressives participated in the College takeovers and progressive lawmakers and media refused to condemn those actions.  The Biden Administration took no action against the Colleges allowing these actions.  The Trump Administration has taken action to remove federal funding from Colleges that refuse Progressives have been outspoken in criticizing the Trump Administration's crackdown on colleges that permitted virulent antisemitism on their campuses.  

Democrats point to what happened on January 6, 2021, when supporters of President Trump entered the Capital building inappropriately in what was, to use the words of CNN, a "mostly peaceful protest."  Some did rough up Capital Police, and were prosecuted for their actions, but the only person killed was a Trump supporter, none of the Trump supporters brought guns.  They did not try to burn down the Capital building the way progressives tried to burn down federal office building in Portland Oregon in 2020 during 100 days of riots in that City.  

By the way, individuals involved in the Portland riots were not prosecuted by local governments and those charged by the Trump Administration later had their charges dropped by the Biden Administration.  Democrats and progressives were reluctant to criticize any of the violent riots that occurred around the country in 2020.  On the contrary, then candidate Kamala Harris supported a fund to bail out persons arrested during riots in Minnesota and elsewhere.    

It's time to speak the truth.  What happened to Charlie Kirk is a direct result of the ongoing escalation of words and actions and hatred advanced by progressives.  Rather than defend their ideas, when they are challenged they fall back on name calling, shouting down opponents and, as we saw yesterday, violence.
