When will we see the apologies?

CNN Reports the firing of Puerto Rico's emergency manager on Saturday.  The firing occurred after a warehouse filled with supplies from Hurricane Maria was discovered.  That was the hurricane that hit the island two years ago.  Now I'm waiting to see if anyone apologizes to President Trump for the criticism directed at him regarding the relief efforts. During the post-hurricane disaster relief effort, the media and some local Puerto Rico politicians complained about the lack of supplies.  There were complaints about how many people died due to the lack of food and water.  Now we find that a Puerto Rico government agency was hoarding supplies for over two years. So I ask again, when will we see the apologies to President Trump or at least to the men and women of the Federal agencies like FEMA, the Coast Guard and the US Navy, that worked so hard to get those supplies to the Island, and an admission that the problem two years ago was the ineptitude and possi...

Post Hurricane predictions

Here are my three predictions of what will happen after Hurricane Michael is done and people are assessing the aftermath. 1. There will be great damage, power outages all over, some loss of life, some people injured. 2. The damage, injuries and deaths will not be as great after Michael as they were in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria hit that island.  Plus power will be restored relatively quickly, certainly people will not be lacking power a year afterwards as is true in Puerto Rico. 3. People will say the reason things are better in Florida after Micheal than in Puerto Rico after Maria is because the population is predominantly white and President Donald Trump is a racist. To the people who say that the fact that the local officials in Florida were prepared while the Puerto Rico local officials were not has nothing to do with it. The fact that State officials in Florida were prepared while the territorial officials in Puerto Rico were not has nothing to do with it. Th...

Puerto Rico's problems won't be solved if they fire the help

Next time someone complains about how long it is taking to get things resolved in Puerto Rico suggest to that the problems are both self-inflicted by the Government of Puerto Rico and by politicians in Washington who put political nonsense ahead of getting problems solved.. I've taken an interest in the story about the Montana firm hired to help restore power in Puerto Rico because it hits close to where I live and today the Government of Puerto Rico cancelled the contract of that Montana firm.  I just have to share some observations. We've heard stories of people dying and of the suffering in Puerto Rico that have taken place since the Hurricane hit.  By all news accounts, the lack of power is a significant contributor to the lack of progress in efforts to fix things down there.  In fact, today's news articles say that 70% of Puerto Rico's population is without power.  The Montana company has 100 people on the ground right now, fully provisioned...
