The Real Authoritarians have a (D) after their names - Part 1
The word projection has multiple definitions. Google says one of the definitions is "...the presentation or promotion of someone or something in a particular way." Kids have a better way of saying it when they tease each other with - "I know you are but what am I?"
The Democrats are the Kings and Queens of political projection. The best example of how the Democrat Party uses projection to deflect attention away from themselves is the latest charge that President Trump and MAGA supporters are authoritarians - a charge that is breathtaking for its audacity. What makes it particularly scary is how the vast majority of the media parrots what the Democrats say verbatim.
According to Merriam-Webster, Authoritarianism is a system of government or management characterized by absolute obedience to authority, concentrated power in a leader or elite, and the suppression of democratic processes, civil liberties, and political dissent.
Let's test that definition by looking at examples of how Democrats try to concentrate power in the Federal Governments and suppress democratic processes, giving greater control to a handful of elites in Congress and the White House.
- "Concentrated power" and "suppression of democratic processes" - see the Democrat presidential primaries. In 2016, the Democrat National Committee staff rigged the primary process to favor Hilary Clinton over Bernie Sanders, scheduling debates for times when fewer people were watching and withholding data from the Sanders campaign, feeding Mrs. Clinton questions that she'd be asked during a CNN debate, among other dirty tricks. In 2020, there were many candidates in the Democrat primary but when Joe Biden won the South Carolina primary they all magically withdrew to leave Biden one-on-one with Bernie Sanders preventing Sanders from winning a fractured primary and getting the nomination. In 2024, the elites in the Democrat Party saw President Biden have a bad debate and they pushed him out of the race after he was overwhelmingly chosen by the voters of the party. The party nomination was awarded to Kamala Harris without giving party voters any choice.
- "Concentrated power" part 2 - which party favors putting more power in the hands of the bureaucrats in Washington D.C. The Democrats have been primarily responsible for increasing the power of the federal government over the past decades. The Republicans have not been without blame but the Trump Administration, both the first one and the current one, has been repealing regulations and reducing government staff levels. Hardly the actions taken by an authoritarian seeking to concentrate power.
- "Concentrated power" part 3 - the Biden Administration sought to universally impose a Covid-19 vaccine mandate on most of the nation's workers. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration mandated that employers with 100 or more employees must require employees to get vaccinated and subject employees who did not to rigorous working conditions. If this had not been stopped by the Courts as it was, roughly 84 million Americans would have been subject to medical injections mandated by a central government bureaucracy.
- "Suppression of democratic processes" - how about using the tactics of authoritarian regimes around the world and jailing your opponent?
- The Democrats launched civil and criminal legal actions against President Trump in multiple states. In New York, both the State Attorney General, Letitia James, and the Manhattan District Attorney clearly campaigned on getting Donald Trump. Georgia Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis collaborated with the Biden White House while she was attempting to prosecute President Trump.
- The Biden Administration prosecuted President Trump for having classified documents in his home, while declining to prosecute President Biden for having classified documents in his home, at the Penn Biden Center, and at the University of Delaware and Biden allegedly shared classified information with the author helping him to write his autobiography.
- "Suppression of democratic processes" part 2 - Democrat lawyers and judges in multiple states tried to prevent President Trump's name appearing on the presidential ballot in the 2024 election. The plaintiffs seeking to block Trump being on those ballots argued President Trump committed a crime for which Trump was not even charged much less convicted, and that made Trump ineligible to run for office. The Supreme Court blocked these actions by a 9-0 vote, meaning even the most liberal justices agreed this was not appropriate.
- "Suppression of democratic processes" part 3 - Democrats have attempted to dilute the electorate by impeding efforts to prevent inappropriate persons from voting.
- Dilution of the electorate occurred in two ways. First, the Obama Administration and the Biden Administration have allowed tens of millions of people to enter the country illegally. Many of these individuals have obtained drivers licenses legally from states like California and New York or illegally from other locations and we know this has allowed many people to get registered to vote who should not be registered. The second way is by not following laws to maintain valid voter lists. States and local governments, particularly those run by Democrats do not purge dead people or people who have moved from voter lists. When States mail ballots to all registered voters that means ballots are mailed to dead people or to a location where the named voter no longer lives. These ballots can then be filled out and returned.
- Democrats impede efforts to prevent dilution by opposing laws and actions that will identify and remove the individuals above. Georgia passed a law to ensure election integrity and President Joe Biden, along with others, called it Jim Crow 2.0. Democrats have opposed enacting similar laws in other states and when such laws are enacted they take legal action to block the laws taking effect. Similarly, Democrats have refused to properly maintain voter rolls, as mentioned above, and typically have to be taken to court and ordered to take the necessary actions.
