Two great articles.

The first link below is a summary of two interesting articles.  The first is to an editorial in the Chicago Tribune calling on the Democrat Party to get Hillary to step aside. A key quote from the Tribune Article was: "It's obvious the American political system is breaking down. It's been crumbling for some time now, and the establishment elite know it and they're properly frightened. Donald Trump, the vulgarian at their gates, is a symptom, not a cause. Hillary Clinton and husband Bill are both cause and effect." The second article linked to is an independent study that concludes Hillary's nomination as the Democrat candidate for President should be invalidated due to fraud in the primaries. http://hubpages.com/politics/Chicago-Tribune-Editorial-Democrats-Should-Ask-Hillary-Clinton-to-Step-Aside Then there is the Wall Street Journal article calling Hillary and Bill Clinton the "Grifters in Chief." the last paragraph should have been the

The Case FOR Trump (Updated)

After posting the case against Hillary, folks challenged me to be positive and make the Case FOR Trump.  Challenge accepted. Let me start by saying I'm not a Trump Fan.  Of the 17 people who ran for the Republican nomination, Trump was about #13 on the list.  That said, we have four candidates for President and we have to vote for one.  So here goes, the case for Trump. 0. Repealing Obamacare - forgot this on the original list and it's way to important to put at the bottom and I'm too lazy to renumber.  Donald Trump will work to repeal Obamacare.  The program is starting to crater.  Premiums are growing at rates of almost 20%.  Less people are enrolling.  Unexpecting citizens are getting hit with surprise tax penalties even if they do have coverage. Hillary Clinton will not repeal Obamacare. Advantage Trump. 1. He'll get things done - Everyone complains that Washington is broken.  Nothing can get done. Who better to change that than a guy who wrote a book ti

He'll get things done - Everyone complains that Washington is broken.  Nothing can get done. Who better to change that than a guy who wrote a book titled "The Art of the Deal."  Trump is a deal maker.  He's a businessman,  It's what he does.  Plus, the fact that Trump is not a hard core ideological conservative enables him to be more flexible in cutting deals to achieve goals. Advantage Trump 2. Jobs - Donald Trump has advanced the most forceful arguments about stopping the bleeding of jobs to foreign countries and bringing those jobs back to America.  He's bluntly outspoken abou

The Case Against Hillary Clinton

We have two of the most flawed candidates in history running for President but I really don't feel anyone has brought together the case against Hillary Clinton into a comprehensive list.  The media has been grossly guilty of protecting Hillary Clinton.  So I feel compelled to try to bring some of this out.  Time and space limit how much I can address but here goes: 1. Where have you been for the last 30 years? Proponents of Hillary say she has the best resume of all time.  First, that's not true, George H.W. Bush had a better resume.  Second, in response to that Donald Trump correctly asked the question above which asks what did she accomplish during that time in power? As a First Lady - remember HillaryCare?  She was given carte blanche during President Bill Clinton's first term in office to develop a health care reform package.  When it was rolled out it failed dramatically as being a bloated bureaucratic mess.  The opposition was bi-partisan. As a US Senator - ca

How many people does it take...

One woman accuses Bill Cosby of drugging and raping her and people believe his denials.  Many women accuse Bill Cosby and the number of accusations has people convicting him. One FBI agent writes a book in the 1990s decrying Hillary Clinton's behavior in the White House and people shrug it off.  We're now up to how many books?  One by an FBI agent responsible for White House Security.  One by a Secret Service agent who was on the Presidential detail.  Three by authors who hunted down different sources to write books. The authors include: Kate Anderson Brower, Ed Stein, Ron Kessler.  The Secret Service Agent - Gary Byrne.  I forget the FBI agent who wrote the book in the 90s. Hillary Clinton is described as being an arrogant, imperial ruler who has no respect or regard for the people who work for her and no respect for maintaining security when it is inconvenient to her. That latter point is really being proven by the email scandal surrounding her and the revelations com

Supreme Court ruling to strip medical protections for Abortion

Recently the Supreme Court voted to strike down a Texas law requiring doctors at abortion clinics to have admitting privileges at hospitals.  It's funny, I thought making abortion legal was about protecting the health of women - guess not. Remember when Joan Rivers died?  Right after that, Nancy Snyderman, at the time the Chief Medical Editor for NBC News, made the observation that it is important for people to see physicians with admitting privileges to hospitals when having outpatient surgery performed.  The context of the comment was that Ms. Rivers was undergoing what was thought to be a simple procedure in a doctor's office.  When things went wrong, the doctor - because he had admitting privileges - was able to immediately get Ms. Rivers admitted to a hospital.  Unfortunately, as events turned out, the hospital was not able to save Ms. Rivers. Here we have a Texas law that says abortion doctors must have admitting privileges to perform abortions and the Supreme Court

Women are liberated in all ways except one

Women can hold the same jobs as men.  They can play the same sports as men.  They get as many college scholarships and dollars for athletics as men.  Women can join the same clubs as men. Women are liberated in all ways except one.  They are not allowed independent political thought.  No that's one area where women are not allowed to be liberated. The latest example - Terry O'Neill, President of the National Organization of Women slamming the statements of female commentators on Fox News - "I think that anti-woman backlash is to be expected from anti-woman conservatives." But the limitation on liberation does not just apply to conservative women.  Gloria Steinem previously said that young women supporting Bernie Sanders were doing so because that's where the boys are.  Madeleine Albright on the same subject said there is "a special place in Hell" for women who don't vote for Hillary Clinton. Sorry ladies - liberation only goes so far and then

The real conversation that needs to happen about transgenders in the bathroom

A person enters either a men's or ladies room, enters a stall and uses it for the purpose that God and the plumbers intended.  Who cares what sexual organ is in their pants or under their skirt?  Not me. I am not necessarily in favor of bills saying you have to use the bathroom that matches your biology, but I do share what I believe are the fundamental concerns that are driving them.  That concern has nothing to do with which bathroom transgender people use.  The concern is which bathroom scumbags use. Example from the Chicago Tribune: a man went into the same bathroom as an 8 year old girl and choked her until she was unconscious.  The only reason the girl was not killed is her mom went in to find out where her daughter was and interrupted the guy's actions.  Otherwise, the headline would be man kills 8 year old girl in the bathroom.  This really happened and it happened just this week. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/ct-man-accused-of-choking-girl-8-i

So which is it liberal commentators?

The question of the day is are actions of 20 years ago important to this election or not?  Donald Trump accuses Hillary Clinton of being an enabler of Bill Clinton's predatory nature.  In response, Hillary won't talk or offers answers that deflect, and liberal supporters of Hillary say that's old news and is no longer important. Today, ABC News is running a big story about something Donald Trump did in 1991. "The former People Magazine reporter who interviewed Donald Trump 's alleged spokesman 'John Miller' in 1991 -- and immediately felt it was actually Trump himself -- says his denials that he masqueraded as his own spokesman raise questions about his character." https://www.yahoo.com/news/reporter-1991-audio-recording-says-trumps-denials-raise-052300885.html The question recurs - is something that happened 20 years ago important or not.  Or is it only allowed to be asked of Donald Trump and not Hillary Clinton? For that matter, if actio

Stossel on Health Insurance and my reply

Friend of mine sent me an article written by John Stossel about the health care or health insurance system in the US.   http://humanevents.com/2016/05/11/free-market-medicine/?utm_source=hedaily&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=nl In response to Mr. Stossel's article, I shall suggest that he's both right and wrong.  He's right on the subject of single payer not being such a good idea: - How is that working for people who rely on the Veteran's Administration? - If traditional Medicare was so good, why do so many people buy Medicare Advantage HMO coverage? - Most State Medicaid agencies contract with private HMOs because the States did such a crappy job managing the system themselves, doctors were leaving the networks in droves, people were turning to the ER for primary care services - UK has state run health and everyone who has money buys private insurance - Australia has state run health and everyone who has money buys private i

About me

Black Guns and Firearm Education Matter

Really interesting story about the idea that rather than try to get all the guns off the street, why not educate people on how to legally and safely possess weapons for your protection.  I like the catchy name too - "Black Guns Matter."  I give the writer credit for being open minded about this and not just making a knee jerk condemnation.  But like the writer, I disagree with the people interviewed when they suggest self-defense includes illegal actions by police.   But the general point is well taken.  Education works.  There is a reason why none of the instances described in the article where little kids shot someone or were themselves shot happened in rural states like Wyoming or Montana where guns far outnumber people and kids of any age can hunt as long as they are accompanied by an adult.  Out here weapons are tools and people are taught from the earliest age how to handle and respect their tools.   Ubiñas: Philly man's campaign: Black Guns M

The road to America's hell is paved with good regulatory intentions

Read the headline and, if you wish, read the article.  Then I'll tell you why the Government is so wrong on this one. Oh the horror!  People in South Dakota are being imprisoned in nursing homes rather than being allowed to live out their golden years in the comfort of their homes surrounded by loved ones.  Something clearly must be done about this. Now let's talk about what's wrong with this story.  We have bureaucrats in Washington D.C. applying a national standard of care for senior citizens to a situation in South Dakota.  Make sure the rube doctors are giving the best care possible.  That sounds appropriate right? Except that it isn't always.  The s

Didn't take long to answer that last question

Donald Trump is accused of amoral behavior, name calling, misogyny...  and then there is: MSNBC's Chris Matthews Under Fire After He's Caught Ogling Melania [Trump] on Open Mic MSNBC's Chris Matthews Under Fire After He's Caught Ogling Melania on Open Mic MSNBC's Chris Matthews Under Fire After He's Caught Ogling Melania ...
