Questions for Democrats re: Illegal Aliens

A few weeks ago Governors from New York, Illinois, and Minnesota, Democrats all, appeared before a House Committee to discuss illegal aliens within their States.  The statements by the Governors say they want to be "tough on illegal immigrants," while trying to placate their liberal base.  Let's review what they said and some questions I'd like to ask them.

Summary of what they said:*

Their States are not sanctuary states.

All want violent criminals off the streets of their communities.

They claim they cooperate with the federal government as it is the Federal Government's job to enforce immigration laws.

Sounds tough on crime, doesn't it?  But here's the "But..."

  • They blamed the Federal Government for the insecure borders that led to this situation.
  • None want ICE conducting raids on communities and workplaces.
  • Their states won't honor ICE detainers.
  • Illegal immigrants deserve "due process."
  • ICE officers shouldn't wear masks or hide their identity

Questions:

1. The Governors made comments criticizing the Federal Government for the insecure borders interesting.  Which Administration is responsible for the failure to control the border?

2. What due process is an illegal immigrant entitled to if they previously were before a judge, ordered deported, deported and then they returned without permission?

On June 22, ICE arrested the following individuals

  • Hamid Reza Bayat - an immigration judge ordered him removed in 2005.
  • Mehrzad Asadi Eidivand - in 2013 a court granted him voluntary departure, meaning he was supposed to leave the US but he never left.
  • Yousef Mehridehno - the government terminated his residency in 2017 for lying on his visa application.
The Governors said people in the country illegally deserve due process.  Other than confirming the person is who ICE thinks they are, what due process is owed to people who went through the process and were ordered to leave?

3.  You agree illegal aliens who commit crimes should be removed from the US.  How do you propose that be done?

Robert Mateo was convicted in 2014 of abusing a child under the age of 14 and served 36 months in jail.  After his jail term ended, Mr. Mateo went through the process and was deported in 2017.  Two weeks ago, ICE conducted a raid in Los Angeles and arrested Mr. Mateo and is planning to deport him.**

So Governors you don't want:
  • Police to ask about a person's immigration status.
  • Police to honor ICE detainer requests.
  • ICE going into the community or workplaces
With those restrictions, how do you suggest the Federal Government do its job?  Do we just let Mr. Mateo roam freely until he abuses another child, gets picked up for it and if by some chance ICE finds out he's in custody they get a criminal warrant for Mr. Mateo, which local police will honor, before the local magistrate let's him walk on bail (or no bail)?

The fact that another child is abused is "incidental damage" and considered acceptable in order to achieve the goals the Governors are seeking with their policies?

4. Are the rules the same for terrorists?

Just last weekend, an ICE raid in Alabama resulted in the arrest of Ribvar Karimi, who reportedly served as an Iranian Army sniper from 2018 to 2021 and who is in the US illegally.  Not the kind of person we want running around the country after the US bombed Iran.  He's just one of over a dozen Iranians recently picked up by ICE.

So Governor's - no change in the rules restricting ICE that you want to see implemented? You prefer ICE wait for an assassination attempt to occur and then the Federal officials can take action.

5. You want Federal law enforcement officials and their families to be threatened and killed?

Governor Walz compared ICE officers to the Gestapo.  Basically, painting a target on ICE and other federal law enforcement officers by comparing them to some of the most heinous individuals in history.  Governors and other Democrats are doubling down saying they want to deny ICE agents the right to wear masks when conducting raids.

Attacks on ICE agents are up 690% since President Trump took office.
  • There is now an app notifying people where ICE agents are.
  • A California Vice-Mayor suggested the 18th Street Gang should target ICE agents.
  • One activist was targeting the spouses and children of ICE agents by posting the Instagram, Facebook and other social media sites used by family members of ICE agents.
Thanks to the efforts of Democrat officials, it is only a matter of time before gangs like Tren de Aragua and MS-13 start attacking and killing federal law enforcement agents, as they have done in South and Central America countries.
